2 Chronicles 26

MEMORY VERSE
“But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.”
— 2 Chronicles 26:16

A PERSONAL WORD
There’s something dangerous that can quietly grow inside us when life is going well — pride. It often starts small, hiding behind our accomplishments, our strengths, even our spiritual maturity. But left unchecked, it can bring ruin.

Uzziah was only sixteen when he became king, and he started off so well — obedient, humble, seeking God. And because of that, God made him successful. But when he became strong, he let pride creep in. He overstepped the boundaries God had set. He barged into the temple to do what only priests were called to do, and when he was corrected, he got angry.

And that’s when everything fell apart.

A FEW REMINDERS FROM SCRIPTURE:

Moses lost his patience and missed the Promised Land (Numbers 20:1–13).
Joshua acted without asking God and lost the battle at Ai (Joshua 7).
Nebuchadnezzar was stripped of his kingdom and lived like a beast (Daniel 4:32–33).
Uzziah ended his days isolated with leprosy.

What’s the common thread? Pride.

LET THIS SINK IN
We can be:

young and wise like Uzziah — for a time.
gifted and still fall.
used by God but still in danger if we stop seeking Him.

Success without humility leads to ruin. But when we remain humble, we stay under God’s hand of blessing.

HEART CHECK
Ask yourself:

Am I giving God the glory for my success?
Do I honor the boundaries God has set in my life?
Have I grown prideful in areas where I used to be prayerful?

PRAYER
Father, thank You for every good thing in my life — it’s all because of You. Keep my heart soft. Keep me humble. Teach me to always seek You, not just in my need, but in my success too. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
